Fräulein Maree is a true classic sailing yacht, hand built by Jim Ashby at his home in Kamo, rather than his yard in Opua, using traditional techniques and materials. Using Kauri planking, Kowhai framing and Matai decks, the vessel harks back to the days of true craftsmen. Launched in December 1967, Fräulein Maree received a Cal Brooks extended cabin to enlarge the useable space on board and provide up to 6’2″ (1.88m) of head room.
This classic yacht slips effortlessly through the water providing a surprising turn of speed. The handmade interior complements the classic exterior. With 2 cabins providing four berths, manual toilet, and a galley, comfort on board is far from basic. The galley has a 3-burner hob, sink and an ice box acting as a fridge and a freezer. The galley is complemented by a barbeque providing options when preparing your meals. The Vetus 30hp diesel engine driving the propellor via a shaft has been recently serviced and is in great condition for its age. Included is a 2.4m fibr eglass sailing dinghy, complete with oars.
