The Whiting 29 was designed by Paul Whiting of Whiting Yachts. Approximately 50 Whiting 29 yachts were produced between 1979 and 1990. They were designed and manufactured in two variants – one with a fractional rig and one with a masthead rig. Tara, this Whiting 29 dates from 1986 and was launched in 1990 with hull number 17. Tara comes with the popular masthead rig.
The Kubota engine, dating from 2012, only has 170 hours since installation. While built well and with a simple fit-out, this boat would benefit from some attention and refurbishment having been neglected for some time due to the owners ill health. The low asking price reflects this need for some work to bring her back to her original glory. Tara is a dry boat and can sleep three with ease, and 5 utilising the saloon.
Externally Tara’s decks are glass over ply, hull is GRP and she has a medium fin with lead and a hinged skeg hung rudder. After upgrades, Tara would be capable of longer passages, as she stands she will make someone a great boat to explore the North Island.
Also available, by separate agreement, is a mooring located in the picturesque Parua Bay. With a 2 ton concrete block, this swing mooring was serviced in October last year and is licenced for vessels up to 10.6m. A few minutes from the popular Parua Bay Tavern and just offshore of the Parua Bay Yacht Club and boat ramp.
